Why I am MIA

So I watched Oprah (which I don't do a lot, lol... anymore), and just happened to watch it the week that she was talking about "wasting". Wasting time, wasting, food, wasting energy, ... really just about how much we have that we don't really need and that we have soo many habits that contribute to waste, etc. Well it really got me thinking about how wasteful I am. For example, we have used paper plates for years because we (I) hate to do dishes (I would just buy a huge pack of them at Sam's) We still used regular silverware and cups just paper plates(? don't ask me about the thought process on that one, lol). So in my contribution to trying to go "green" and be less wasteful, we have stopped using paper plates! It was funny at first because I didn't say anything to the kids just started using dishes. I got comments like "mom, why are you using dishes? We have paper plates in the storage room." lol. But, when I told them why, they were more than happy to comply. Saydie had recently told me about how they had watched a documentary in school about waste and that there is a land fill the size of Texas....that really makes me sick.

I also realized that I waste ALOT of time "blog hopping" and surfing on the internet. So I have been trying to be more wise about the way I spend my time. And have cut back the amount of time that I spend (waste) on the internet. And.... I have to say that it has been really nice. I get so much more accomplished during the day. It's also nice right now because my kids are home a lot of the time and so we are spending our time together instead of wasting it. So, I just thought I would let you all know why I have not been updating my blog as much. I still catch up with everyone's blogs about once a week but since I am not doing it everyday... it takes a little more time, on that one day so don't feel bad if you don't receive comments from me.... I am still reading your blog.... just saving time by not commenting on every single one, lol. Hope you are all having a wonderful summer and since I can't post without a picture.......one from our recent family outing.

Meet the Carter's!

A few weeks ago we drove up American Fork canyon hoping to get some family pictures. With Chris home, we just couldn't keep the one without him in it up on the wall! This has become quite the adventure for us. I always take my tripod and set the camera on timer (someday I am going to get my remote to work!). The funny part is trying to time it just right. Saydie had the idea of jumping off a log all at the same time. I bet we did it 30 times, before we had one that we liked. We were laughing so hard because we could never time it just right. Half us would be in the air while the other half was already on the ground or some of us hadn't even made it off the log yet! I will have to post some of the other bloopers from that one sometime, but here is one. It was really fun and a time to remember for sure. I loved the first picture because I think it really captures what jokers we all are. Even though it was totally set up I still think it's cute and I want to make a big canvas out of it for my wall. What do you think?
